ABOUT

Located just five kilometres south-east of Central Melbourne between the suburbs of South Yarra and Windsor,  Prahran has long been renowned for its shopping, bars, eateries and nightclubs. The bustling and lively inner suburb is located within the City of Stonnington, which has the second lowest amount of open space per capita in Victoria. In an endeavour to create more open space as the Council’s population increases, the City of Stonnington fully funded the redevelopment of the original Cato Street Car Park, transforming the space into an open air plaza and urban garden, with two levels of underground parking, now known as Prahran Square. One of the largest construction projects ever delivered in the City of Stonnington, Prahran Square is separated into nine distinct areas arranged around a central square, designed to serve as an urgently needed open space for recreation, events, festivals and markets.
